The fascia envelops, touches, surrounds, compartmentalizes, divides and protects the structures of the body. It coordinates motor skills during muscle contractions.

The FDM, or fascial distortion model, is a fascia treatment system. Also called orthopathic medicine, it is a manual therapy resulting from osteopathy created by doctor Stephen Typaldos.

Fascia:

The dysfunctions that the FDM treats concern the fascias of the body.

Distortion:

Contortion, deformation of the fascial envelopes, or aponeuroses. Typaldos has described six major types. They can appear everywhere, because fascias are ubiquitous. These anatomical changes can lead to physical injuries.

Model:

The treatment of each fascial distortion has a very distinct method of correction.

FDM was introduced to American emergency physicians and osteopaths in 1991 by Typaldos. He had noticed that his patients, except for medical diagnoses, used the same words and gestures over and over again to describe their complaints. This approach therefore bases the diagnosis on the client's feelings and body language.

These fascial distortions are the cause of the client's musculoskeletal dysfunctions (sprains, etc.) and prevent the portions located downstream from receiving the flow of fluids (hormones, nutrients, minerals, oxygen). The treatment of these distortions allows the return of homeostasis, of health throughout the body,
