Definitions: The compartment syndrome is characterized by an increase in pressure exerted on the internal tissues of what is called a muscular compartment (compartment), located in the forearm or calf, either following an injury (compartment syndrome acute), or during overuse (chronic compartment syndrome). The syndrome most often manifests itself in the calf, after a fracture of the tibia or fibula.

Symptoms of the disease

  • Intense pain
  • Hardened muscles 
  • Swelling and feeling of pressure 
  • Sensory disturbances (numbness and tingling)
  • Limited movement
