Yanic Szoghy
Sports Physiotherapist
About Yanic
I have been working in the field of massage therapy for almost
30 years now. I've had the privilege of teaching my art to
Kiné Concept for over 15 years and, for the last 20 years, I have been
owner of the Kinesis Centre, Stress Management Centre
musculoskeletal and sports performance. Before focusing
my studies in physiotherapy at the Kiné Concept Institute,
I have a bachelor's degree in sports physiology (sports therapy).
at Concordia University. My studies as well as my athletic background
allowed me to develop a particular interest in working with
athletes in order to treat pain and sports injuries.
Sports experience
For several years, I was involved in water sports,
More specifically, swimming and water polo. My swimming career
spans from 1975 to 1992, where I reached the national level in several events.
In parallel, I played water polo from 1980 to 1992. My passion for this
Sport led me to become a coach.
I managed the St-Lambert water polo club from 1987 to 2005 and I had the opportunity
to work with Team Quebec and the Women's National Water Polo Team
as a coach and also as a sports therapist from 1995 to 1998.
National Centre of Montreal
In 1998, I collaborated with Benoit Lebrun and Sébastien Messier, coaches of the PPO club (Piscine du Parc Olympique).
In 2005, Benoit Lebrun became the head coach of the Montreal national swimming center.
With the addition of sports psychologist Wayne Halliwell and physical trainer Alain Delorme,
We have built a strong team which has enabled us to integrate athletes into the national team year after year.
The Montreal national center was closed in 2015 due to a lack of funding. It was a sad day for Quebec swimming.
High performance
Since 2009, I have been working with Swimming Canada, which has given me the opportunity to participate in several renowned international competitions, including:
I have had the privilege of working with many exceptional athletes such as Ryan Cochrane, Brent Hayden, Hilary Caldwell, Kylie Masse, Penny Oleksiak, Sandrine Mainville, Katerine Savard, Josh Liendo, Finley Knox, Audrey Lacroix, Brittany MacLean and Taylor Ruck.
My work with Swimming Canada also allowed me to collaborate with exceptional therapists, including physiotherapists Ron Mattison and Matt Rose, massage therapists Didier Hamel Jollette, as well as biomechanics experts Eugene Liang and Alan Wrigley. We were recognized as one of the best integrated support teams in the world.
Treatment philosophy
My personal experience in the world of swimming
And water polo allowed me to gain a good understanding of biomechanics.
